1. Caring for your jewellery
Ensure that your jewellery remains in optimal condition by minimizing contact with moisture and harsh chemicals, and protecting it from any impact or abrasion.
Our jewellery with gold leaf highlights is crafted with delicate genuine gold leaf that is applied using a special gilding size, and protected with gold-leaf sealant. Keep your gold-leaf jewellery away from any moisture, harsh chemicals, impact and abrasion.
2. Cleaning your jewellery
Gold and unpatinated silver - Gently clean using a soft-bristled toothbrush and diluted dish soap. Dry thoroughly.
Patinated silver - Gently clean using your fingers with diluted dish soap. Dry thoroughly (do not rub). Do not use any jewellery polishing cloth or silver cleaning dips.
Jewellery with gold leaf - Do not wash or scrub. Gently wipe areas without gold leaf with a soft cloth, and store it in a dry, cool and dark place.
For tarnished jewellery, refer to point 4 below.
3. Storing your jewellery
Always store your jewellery in a dry, cool and dark place.
4. Patination and tarnishing
Patination is a chemical process that darkens the surfaces of alloys containing copper, including sterling silver, using liver of sulphur. Patination is applied to jewellery primarily for aesthetic reasons.
Tarnishing of sterling silver and low-karat solid gold jewellery can occur over time and with wear due to humidity, air pollution, chemicals and our body chemistry. It can be reduced by wearing your jewellery with care and with proper cleaning (refer to points 1 and 2 above). Tarnish can be removed using jewellery polishing cloths or appropriate tarnish cleaning solutions.
